When we launched the Stormgrotta 1.5, we knew we had something special. A fly-first, 4-season solo tent built for the kind of conditions that send most people home. But we also knew, pretty quickly, that there were things we could do better.

You told us. In YouTube comments, in product Q&As, in messages to our team. And we listened.

The Stormgrotta 1.5 is now back in stock, updated for 2026, and this is the story of what changed and why.

What you told us

The feedback was clear and consistent. The buckle clip system at the top of the poles was fiddly, particularly with gloves on. The larger flysheet panels needed more tension points in strong wind. And people wanted more room inside for the small things.

None of this surprised us. It's exactly the kind of feedback you only get once a tent is out in the real world, being used in the kind of weather it was designed for.

What we changed

The clip system. The flysheet-to-pole clip system has been redesigned for a faster, more intuitive pitch. The intent was always that the top buckle straps go over both poles together – clip the loops first, then feed the poles through as you pitch. The new design makes this far more natural, even with cold hands.

More pegging points. We've added three extra pegging points on the larger flysheet panels. In most conditions you won't need every one, but in exposed or stormy pitches, that additional tension makes a real difference to how the tent sits and how it handles wind load.

Triangular guy ropes. The tie-out guy ropes are now triangular, improving stability across the larger panel sections – one of the more subtle changes, but one that makes a meaningful difference in testing.

More storage inside. The interior now has increased pocket storage and a new hanging line for drying gear. The line sits under the flysheet rather than inside the inner, so damp kit stays protected from rain without dripping on your sleeping bag.

What hasn't changed

Everything that made the original Stormgrotta worth buying is still here. The external 3-pole exoskeletal structure. The fly-first pitch that keeps the inner dry even in a downpour. The removable gear bucket porch. The 15D nylon construction. The oversized pack bag that means you're never fighting to stuff the tent away at 6am in the rain.

At 1.6kg with a 3000mm+ flysheet hydrostatic head and a 5000mm+ bathtub floor, it remains one of the most capable solo tents at its weight.
